April 13, 2006 I started dating someone. Our first year was kinda rough.. we were both just right out of relationships and still trying to figure one another out. Some people thought we weren't going to last and didn't want us to really. Some of them that had "reasons" for us to not be together had extremely bad ones. In January 2007 we found out we were expecting. Then in April we found out we had lost the baby. It was extremely hard on both of us, but we made it through and remained together. Then came our one year anniversary. That first year flew by. As fun times and holidays passed so did more time of us being together. Then in March 2008 we found out we were expecting again. We didn't tell anyone because we wanted to wait until we heard the heartbeat and were reassured that our baby was okay. The doctors gave us a due date of December 27th. Then once that day came that we knew all was well we told our families and they were very excited. In August 2008 we found out we were expecting a little boy. We were both beyond happy [we both wanted a boy]. We were meeting our families that night for dinner at Clancy's to reveal our baby's gender and what we would be naming him. Everyone was trying to guess and to see if they could get us to slip up throughout the day, it didn't worked. Once we finally got to dinner and decided we were ready to announce our big news.. everyone was so anxious and just ready for us to say it. Were having a BOY! We decided to name him Caysen Joel. [Caysen was just a name I found online and fell in love with and I knew immediately that if we were having a son, that would be his name and his daddy agreed. Joel is my father's first name]. Both of our families were so happy when we finally told them. That same month we found a place to move into in Edgewater. We got everything moved in and set up and then we just waited for the next couple months to pass. Finally his due date arrived. Then we were headed to the doctors on December 30th to make sure everything was okay. The doctor decided he would scrape my membranes. I left the doctors office at 2pm. Then at 2am December 31st I woke up with contractions that were five minutes apart. I decided to just breathe through them for the first 2 1/2 - 3 hours. When I decided to wake up the soon to be daddy.. I said "are you ready ?" to which he replied "for what ?" I said "to go to the hospital, I'm having contractions." He got right out of bed and began getting ready and making sure I was okay and that I had all I needed for the hospital. Once we arrived at the hospital they sent me straight to labor & delivery and put me in a room. I was in labor for almost 16 hours. At 5:39pm my little boy was born. The moment I saw his little face and heard that cry, my entire world changed and my heart immediately fell head over heels in love with this little boy. As his daddy and I held him and stared at his perfect little face and checked out his tiny little body.. we cried too. It was the most amazing experience I've ever been through. We found out almost immediately that they were going to take him away from us because he was sick and they needed to figure out what was wrong. So, after having my heart immediately fall in love, it was then immediately broken. I felt like such a failure already. My one job was to deliver my baby and keep him safe and healthy and he came out sick. I later found out that he had pneumonia and that I couldn't see him until the next morning. That next morning his daddy and I walked down to the nursery to see our baby. We were told on Friday that I was able to go home, but that Caysen had to stay for about a week. I have never felt so sad and heart broken in my life. You wait 40+ weeks to give birth, just to be told that your child has to stay but you have to go home. Luckily Caysen & I had amazing nurses who let me stay in a back room by the nursery until like 11pm Friday night. They also let me use that room for Saturday when I came to visit and spent all day with him. Then Sunday morning we got a call saying he was doing much better and could go home. We immediately got ready and headed up to get him. I firmly believe that when a baby / child is sick, spending all the time you can with them, will help them get better sooner. The first year of Caysen's life flew by before we knew it. He had an amazing first year and first birthday. Then came birthday number two. Then in February 2011 we found out we were expecting but soon after in March we had lost yet another baby. Again, we made it through it, even though it's not an easy thing to go through. In May 2011 that "someone" and I who started dating 5 1/2 years ago, got engaged in Boone, NC. Finally! I said yes and so we began planning our wedding. Now here we are, almost three years later. I can't believe that in less than two months I will have a three year old. As of February 12, 2012 I will officially be a married girl. So, after 5 1/2 years were still together even when some people doubted us. I don't know what the future holds for us, but I know that if we stick together and work through any problems we may have, we could get through anything. We've already been through a heck of a lot so far.
